How does Kybella® work?
KYBELLA contains deoxycholic acid, which is injected into the targeted area. Deoxycholic acid occurs naturally in the body to help breakdown and absorb dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA destroys fat cells, resulting in noticeable reduction in fullness. The fat cells are destroyed permanently and can no longer store or accumulate fat, making further treatment unnecessary once the patient reaches their aesthetic goal. KYBELLA is FDA approved, non-surgical, and an excellent alternative to liposuction.
KYBELLA is also used to sculpt jowls, for patients who complain of having a sagging face.

RECOVERY PROCESS
Kybella® works by gradually destroying fat cells. Due to the gradual process, you won’t notice results immediately after the first treatment. It is common for patients to require more than one treatment session. In fact, two to four treatment sessions are recommended for optimal results. Each treatment session needs to be scheduled at least one month apart.
Some patients report swelling in the days that follow a KYBELLA treatment and mild discomfort may be experienced but can be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers. Each patient’s experience is unique and some patients may experience more than average discomfort but most patients agree that the results seen after KYBELLA treatments are worth the temporary discomfort and minimal downtime.
THE PROCEDURE
Once a patient is determined to be a good candidate for KYBELLA® and is ready to proceed with the procedure, we will customize a treatment plan based on the cosmetic goals and physical examination of the patient. Our expert team will discuss all aspects of a treatment plan and address any questions or concerns.
Before a patient undergoes a KYBELLA treatment, the specific injection sites below the chin will be marked in a grid-like pattern. An anesthetic will be applied topically to the injection site, to ensure the patient remains comfortable during the procedure. Multiple KYBELLA injections will be given at each treatment session- approximately twenty to twenty-five. Minimal discomfort and downtime occur with KYBELLA treatments and further treatment will not be expected once a patient reaches the desired cosmetic goal.
